WordPress for website management
written by Craig, 11 January 2007
WordPress is a blogging tool. It helps you write online articles and publish them on the web for all to see. I’ve been a fan of WordPress for a few years; the templates are straight-forward, support is fantastic, and it’s open source so there’s no immediate cost.
We’ve all seen WordPress-driven blogs, but I’d often wondered whether it could it be used to control a standard website such as Optimalworks.net? Did have content management facilities to control normal website pages and blog entries?
The answer is most definitely ‘yes’! The whole of this site is powered by WordPress, even though the blog appears to be a minor part of the content. The template is a little tricky in places; it’s often necessary to do things in a particular order and that can require a little lateral thinking.
Overall, WordPress is a great application if you need an integrated content management system and blogging tool.
